How much will it cost to gut demo and remodel a basement in Huntington?

I want to create an open area with a few closets and a laundry room. I have plumbing in the laundry room now.

my basemnt is 800 square feet

      Hello

Assuming you will need flooring throughout, new doors, some lighting and electrical, new partitions, new insulation, new sheetrock and paint, new trim and some stairwork, plumbing alterations and closet shelving you are looking at an entry price of $30,000 which would be your low bid from a licensed contractor. A reputable contractor higher. 35$ /sf is a low price imo

      Hello

I had a flood in my basement in Plainview recently. There are some spots that appear to be mold spores. We called an environmental company and the price they gave us was beyond absurd. Our insurance lapsed and we are not covered. Do you have any advice?

        Some things to consider:

        1. The NY DOH has a very easy read regarding mold spores. Read it and pay attemtion between the lines. Do not let an environmental contractor steer you into a contract
        2. most (vast majority) of homes have concealed mold especially on wetwalls (where there is plumbing). MOst long island basements are humid especially in august and that can cause visible surface mold.
        3. you can find mold growth virtually everywhere. for example look inside your wall or window or ductless ac air handler. that black stuff is exactly what you think it is.
        4. dehumidify and clean (properly with masks). you are breathing mold all the time. Especially if you have an air conditioning unit. Dont lose sleep over it. DO your research. STart with the department of health.
        5. contact us to figure out why you had a flood if your basement is prone to floods
